Key Highlights
There were 11,901 UHNWIs in Germany in 2013, with an average per capita wealth of US$117.6 million, making them a prime target group for wealth sector professionals. Of this total, there were 85 billionaires, 2,637 centimillionaires and 9,178 affluent millionaires. UHNWIs accounted for 0.9% of the total German HNWI population in 2013, slightly higher than the global average of 0.7%. During the review period, the number of German UHNWIs increased by 27.1%, from 9,362 in 2009 to 11,901 in 2013. There was a wide range of performance between the different UHNWI wealth bands: while the number of billionaires increased by 57.4%, the number of centimillionaires and affluent millionaires increased by 25.5% and 27.3% respectively. WealthInsight expects the number of UHNWIs to increase by 11% to reach 13,447 in 2018. This will include 97 billionaires, 2,982 centimillionaires and 10,368 affluent millionaires.
