The Taiwanese Mobile Phone Industry, 4Q 2014

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of mobile phone shipment volume, shipment value, and APS, and analyzes manufacturer volume rankings, shipment by maker, shipment by branded vendor, and price trends. Also provided are shipment breakdowns by system technology, operating systems and display and examines production locations shipment and destinations. 

The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with Taiwanese mobile phone makers. The report finds that strong sales of Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus pushed the overall Taiwanese smartphone shipments to new record highs in 4Q 2014. Therefore, the shipment volume of Taiwanese mobile phone industry - comprising of branded vendors and contract makers – is anticipated to hit new highs to around 116.8 million units in the fourth quarter of 2014, up 54.3% sequentially and 42.7% year-on-year. Without shipments for iPhones that account for the lion's share of Taiwanese mobile phone shipments, it is anticipated that the total Taiwanese mobile phone shipment volume will decline sequentially in the first quarter of 2015 to around 80.2 million units but still manage to witness a whopping 47.3% year-on-year growth.
